our footprint in the world
What is leaving a mark on the world?
our footprint in the world can be good or bad, we can contribute with things that help improve the planet or we can do things (consciously or unconsciously) which damage it in an almost irreparable way, the environment is an ecological unit that houses both living and non-living components, that is, biotic and abiotic, environmental degradation is the loss of the environment's ability to meet the social, biodiversity and environmental needs of the earth, occurs an environmental deterioration when the earth's natural resources are depleted or damaged and the environment is compromised, the consequences of this deterioration are varied and can be the extinction of species, loss of biodiversity, loss of air quality, water pollution, soil erosion or increased greenhouse effect. Although many of these effects are not visible in the short term, they are noticeable in the long term. It is for this reason that current actions can affect future environmental deterioration, we call pollution the alteration caused in the environment by the introduction of different substances into the environment and that have a negative effect on it. There are different types of contamination, which are usually divided according to the environment affected. The best known and most studied types of pollution are soil, atmospheric, water and noise pollution, another method to classify pollution is according to the degree of dispersion of the pollutants. So we have:
-Point pollution: Contaminants are located at a single point, such as a drain.
-Diffuse pollution: pollutants spread through the environment, such as acid rain by wind action.
Due to pollution, habitat deterioration can occur, which is produced largely by activities carried out by human beings, such as the construction of dams or tourism on the coast, which worsen habitat conditions, affecting animal species and vegetables that inhabit it. another cause of environmental deterioration is the introduction of invasive species, since as they are not natural inhabitants of that habitat, they alter its conditions, environmental deterioration also has consequences for humans, among these are; poverty, difficult access to basic resources, spread of insects and diseases, etc., for planet Earth the consequences of environmental deterioration are; global warming, desertification, increased climatic phenomena, soil erosion.
Caring for the environment is a task that has become a priority not only for public administrations, but also for those of us who see how the planet earth has been undergoing drastic changes, closely related to fossil fuels. The smoke from vehicles pollutes large cities while factories and power plants that burn coal can be the biggest problem in a country and make its air literally unbreathable, as in China, but pollution is not just pollution from cities, also in the rivers, the sea, the animals we eat.
These are some of the ways to take care of the environment:
1.-Using clean and renewable energy to help the environment
2.-Reduce pollution to help the planet
3.-Don't waste food
4.-Do not waste water to protect the environment
5.-Produce less waste and manage what is there well
